Adventures at Adventureland Iowa

Today marks the beginning of the second park of the 21' theme park road trip at Adventureland! After spending the night at the campground, my initial impression of this place was somewhat negative due to my tent getting flooded. But let's move on to the trip report! Located within walking distance of the park, Adventureland Campground allowed me to easily stroll over for the park's opening. As I approached the park entrance, I couldn't help but notice the striking resemblance

The Park has one on-site lodging locations:

The Adventureland Campground: The campground has tent and RV camping. If you are tent camping, be-aware that you will be tenting in an open field. Our Tent had gotten flooded on the first night due to the area being not well irrigated. You will also need to be careful when cars are driving through and lawn staff blasting through your campsite.

The Monster

The Monster is an adrenaline-pumping Gerstlaur Infinity Coaster that will take you on a thrilling ride with its 133ft height and 65mph speed. With 5 inversions and a beyond vertical drop, this coaster is not for the faint-hearted. The layout of the ride twists around the skyride, providing a unique and exciting experience for all thrill-seekers.

Park Tip: This ride does not have the best capacity. It is advised to hit this ride at the beginning of your day.

Dragon Slayer

The Dragon Slayer is a 4D Free-Spin Coaster with a track layout designed by S&S that includes unexpected flips that may cause motion sickness for riders who are not used to them. The rollercoaster provides a choice between a mild ride on one side and a wild ride on the other side of the train.

Park Tip: Please note that not all riders may fit in the rides' over-the-shoulder vest configuration. If you weigh over 200 lbs, we advise you to take this into consideration before riding. Ride also has low capacity. We advise hitting this ride first.

Tornado

Adventureland's oldest ride is a classic wooden coaster that spans over 3,200 feet in length and packs a powerful punch.

Park Tip: The ride may look intimidating, however it has very little airtime, which makes it perfect for those who dont like the stomach dropping sensation.

Outlaw

The Outlaw is a wooden twister roller coaster that stands 67 feet high and features 2,800 feet of track.

Park Tip: This ride can be a bit rough, it is not recommended for those with neck or back pain.

Phoenix

As you race along the 1,400 feet of track, this coaster will whirl you around.

Park Tip: Due to the ride vehicle configuration, operations on this ride are not great. We suggest hitting this ride at park open.

Flying Viking

This coaster can reach a maximum speed of 26 miles per hour and ascend to a height 50 feet. Additionally, its design interacts with the adjacent water flume ride, Draken Falls.

Park Tip: This Ride is perfect for younger visitors at Adventureland. Due to a majority of the rides in the park being 48in tall, this ride can get a long line due to its lower height restriction.

The Underground

The Underground is a indoor wooden coaster and dark ride all in one! In 2024, the ride has been reimagined with a updated story and theming.

Park Tip: This Rides Capacity is not great. We suggest heading to this ride as soon as possible during your visit.
