Hey all!
Today, we're visiting the Mall of America, the largest mall in the United States, to explore Nickelodeon Universe, an indoor theme park that features elements and themes from the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon channel. With attractions ranging from roller coasters to meet-and-greets with popular cartoon characters, it's a must-visit for any Nickelodeon fan!
We started our day with a ride on Back at the Barnyard's Hayride, a small children's roller coaster with gentle hills and drops. The ride is made engaging by character-themed Easter eggs scattered throughout, making it an ideal first roller coaster for kids.
Next, we headed to SpongeBob's Rock Bottom Plunge. This Euro-Fighter roller coaster includes a vertical lift, a vertical drop, and overbanked turns and inversions. It's the park's main thrill ride and is quite exhilarating, especially as the top of the ride gets remarkably close to the ceiling. We also enjoyed the Easter eggs from the classic SpongeBob episode "Rock Bottom." This ride is a must if you're spending the day at the Mall.
Afterward, we enjoyed a ride on the family roller coaster that spans the entire perimeter of the park, The Pepsi Orange Streak! This ride is quite fun, offering small pops of air time throughout. It is also the longest ride in the park and features two chain lifts. It's perfect for those who aren't ready for the larger rides but still want a great view of the park.
We then made our way to the Avatar Airbender Half Pipe Rollercoaster. This ride has two gondolas that spin on a skateboard-like platform as the ride traverses two vertical spikes, launching you mere feet from the mall's skylight. This is a pretty thrilling ride and is not recommended for those who get motion sickness from spinning.
Last but not least, we experienced the Fairly Odd Rollercoaster. This spinning roller coaster heavily interacts with the front area of the park and also gets you very close to the Backyardigans Swing Along ride. We got some pretty good spins on this ride and had some small pops of air time.
Overall, this is a great indoor amusement park and a perfect fix for when the regional parks are closed for the season. Also, unlike its sister park in New Jersey, most of their main headlining attractions are open! With that, let's get into the photo report!
