Dining At Aj's Steakhouse

Hey all!

Tonight, I am dining at AJ's Steakhouse at Prairie Meadows Casino in Altoona, Iowa! As Prairie Meadows' fine dining establishment, it is located conveniently close to the horse race track and right next door to Adventureland Amusement Park. The restaurant features a warm, inviting atmosphere with a modern touch.

However, the service started off a bit rocky, making it hard to get drink service consistently. When I was finally able to place my order—which is done entirely via a tablet, an interesting touch—I started with the French onion soup and ordered the beef short rib pasta, served over cavatappi pasta, topped with fresh herbs, and accompanied by a side of cheesy garlic-herb bread.

The French onion soup was decent, but unfortunately, the short rib had a bitter taste that I just wasn't a fan of. Combined with a server who came across as a bit snobby throughout the experience, I unfortunately can't say this was a good meal—especially for a steakhouse.

Overall, I probably wouldn't return, as there are better dining options in the area!
