Today, I will be reviewing Lego set #43222, The Disney Castle. My girlfriend and I had been interested in this enchanting set for quite some time, having first encountered it on display at the Lego store located in Disney Springs. The captivating design and intricate details immediately drew us in, and we were further inspired by its promotion during the Disney 100 celebration, which highlighted the magic and nostalgia associated with Disney's rich history. On Valentine's Day, after much anticipation and excitement, I finally managed to purchase this delightful set. Although it is now officially retired, it remains accessible for purchase at both the Disney store and Amazon. Notably, the Disney store offers it at a competitive price of 399.99 USD, making it an attractive option for collectors and Disney fans alike. Now, let's move on to the build review!
At first glance, the product comes in a fairly large and impressive box, which is quite substantial in size, so if you don't have the arm strength to lift it comfortably, I would recommend considering asking a partner or a friend to assist you in moving it to your desired building location. Upon opening the box, you'll be greeted with several well-organized manuals and numerous bags filled with colorful Lego pieces. The first manual is your guide to building the sturdy base of the castle, along with much of the surrounding landscaping that brings the entire scene to life. (Remember to scan the QR code located at the bottom of the manual with your LEGO Builder app to earn valuable reward points for your LEGO Insider Rewards, which can be redeemed for future purchases or exclusive items.) In the second manual, you'll embark on the exciting task of assembling most of the second floor of the castle, where you’ll discover many hidden Disney Easter eggs that pay homage to their beloved animated films over the years. Each little detail is a delightful surprise that adds to the charm of the set. The third bag focuses on creating the iconic top spires of the castle and includes the construction of a stunning fireworks display that adds a festive touch to your completed model!
The set also includes a delightful assortment of mini figures that represent characters from various Disney classics. These movie cameos include beloved figures from Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Snow White, and Cinderella, each meticulously designed to capture their unique essence. These mini figures not only enhance the playability of the set but also serve as nostalgic reminders of the timeless stories that have captured the hearts of audiences for generations.
Overall, this set offers multiple opportunities for imaginative play and is a perfect standout decoration piece for your Lego or hobby room. It can also serve as a stunning focal point when displayed on a buffet in your living room or any other space where you want to showcase your love for Disney and Lego. The combination of intricate design, engaging building experience, and nostalgic elements makes the Disney Castle a truly remarkable addition to any collection, and I look forward to sharing this piece of magic with friends and family for years to come.
