Eating The Blues at House of Blues

Hey Y'all!
Today, we're dining at the House of Blues in Chicago. If you're not familiar with these restaurants, think of them as similar to Bubba Gump or Hard Rock Cafe, but this one is inspired by the iconic film, The Blues Brothers. The restaurant subtly incorporates a Cajun and Mississippi blues theme. We chose to eat here before our show in the concert hall upstairs. Upon arrival, we were asked if we were attending the show, which apparently prompts the staff to expedite service for concert-goers. We began with a spinach artichoke dip, featuring blistered tomato, spinach, and artichokes, served with Cajun-spiced tortilla chips. Honestly, the dip tasted overwhelmingly of spinach and lacked flavor—it was somewhat unpleasant. Nevertheless, we proceeded with our entrees: two orders of their BBQ Nachos, which included a four cheese sauce, avocado, roasted corn salsa, pickled red onion, tomatoes, Memphis BBQ sauce, cilantro crema, cotija cheese
and the option to add brisket or pulled pork. This dish redeemed the meal, as it was quite tasty. We didn't try any main entrees, so we can't provide a comprehensive review of those. When our waiter asked if we wanted dessert, we learned that spending at least $25 per person grants fast passes to skip the line for the concert. With this in mind, we ordered their House of Brownie, which came with vanilla ice cream, spiced chocolate sauce, whipped cream, peanut butter sauce, a chocolate chip cookie, and a Luxardo cherry. We requested the brownie without peanut butter, but unfortunately, it was still served with it. However, one of us didn't mind the peanut butter, so it still received a thumbs up. Overall, the restaurant wasn't too bad; it's your typical overly themed 90s establishment with some decor showing wear, and my chair felt like it might fall apart. I'm sure there are better options in Chicago, but if you're attending a show and want some quick appetizers, this place is a decent choice.
