Maybe Happy Ending at The Fischer Theater!

Hello all!

Today, we had the absolute pleasure of seeing Maybe Happy Ending on Broadway! This beautiful production strikes a wonderful emotional chord, weaving moments of pure joy with touching sadness throughout its story.

Visually, the show is a standout. The innovative set design uses a clever back-curtain technique to display multiple scenes at once, while striking lighting effects effortlessly bring its futuristic world to life. Even though the cast is smaller than many Broadway shows, the actors carry the story with incredible warmth and chemistry.

One of the most unique elements is the music: instead of a traditional orchestra pit, much of the sound is woven right into the set—with a wonderful surprise orchestra appearance later in the show! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed Maybe Happy Ending, and it makes for a fantastic theatrical outing the whole family can enjoy.

The Plot:

Set in a near-future retirement complex on the outskirts of Seoul, Maybe Happy Ending follows Oliver and Claire, two decommissioned "HelperBots" left behind as newer technology renders them obsolete. Oliver is a steadfast, hopeful early model waiting faithfully for his former owner to return, while Claire is a cynical, slightly more modern bot fighting a failing battery. Their paths cross when Claire visits Oliver's apartment to borrow a charger, sparking an unlikely bond that sends them on a road trip across South Korea—searching for Oliver's past and chasing Claire's dream of seeing fireflies. As they journey together, the two unexpectedly discover human warmth and fall deeply in love, even while confronting the looming reality of their decaying hardware. Ultimately, they face a poignant choice: erase their memories to avoid the agony of grief, or embrace the painful beauty of a love destined to end.
