Polynesian Dining At Wailulu!
Updated: 1 hour ago
Aloha!
Today, we traded the parks for a relaxing afternoon at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, checking out one of the newest culinary hot spots: Wailulu Bar & Grill.
Tucked inside the brand-new Disney Vacation Club Island Tower, this restaurant brings a fresh, modern energy to the resort. The design blends sleek, contemporary Polynesian architecture with subtle, beautiful nods to Disney’s Moana throughout the space. The restaurant itself has a fairly narrow footprint, featuring a seamless mix of indoor seating and an outdoor covered ceiling. We opted for a booth outside, which turned out to be a fantastic choice—we were seated right in front of a stunning, rolling waterfall feature that created the ultimate tranquil backdrop. Paired with an attentive server and a wonderfully laid-back island atmosphere, it was the definition of vacation mode.

We kicked things off with a couple of shareable plates:
Crispy Chicken Wings: Adobe-marinated wings glazed in a rich soy sauce and served alongside a bright, zesty tomato-Fresno pepper relish that cut right through the richness.
Ahi Tuna Crisps: A huge hit with our whole party! This dish features fresh marinated ahi tuna piled high on crispy fried wonton "chips," all drizzled with avocado crema, sriracha aioli, and a savory soy glaze. The sauce combination and the crunch of the wontons were absolute perfection.
For the main course, our table went all-in on a spread of island-inspired comfort food:
Poke Bowl: A fresh and vibrant bowl featuring sushi-style rice, crisp pickled cucumbers, assorted vegetables, spicy poke sauce, crunchy macadamia nuts, and tender Ahi tuna.
Pineapple Barbecue Chicken Sliders: Sweet and savory sliders stacked with pineapple barbecue sauce, crunchy Asian slaw, and adobe mayonnaise on a sweet bun, served with a side of crispy sweet potato fries.
The Wayfinder Burger: Two perfectly pressed patties topped with American cheese, sweet onion jam, and a kick of volcano sauce on a sweet potato bun, also served with sweet potato fries.
Every single dish we ordered tasted fantastic, but a clear standout emerged for me: The Wayfinder Burger. The onion jam brought an incredible depth of flavor, and the whole thing delivered a brilliant Polynesian twist on a classic burger. Meanwhile, the rest of the table couldn't stop raving about the Ahi Tuna Crisps and their addictive sauce drizzles.
Overall, Wailulu Bar & Grill exceeded our expectations. Between the gorgeous views, the relaxing waterfall ambiance, and the incredible food, we would definitely return in a heartbeat. Honestly? It just might be the best restaurant at the Polynesian now!
