A Taste of England in the Heart of Detroit
Today, we're having lunch at the Lone Goat, an English pub situated in downtown Detroit, just off Woodward, next to the Shinola Hotel. Upon arriving, we discovered that this establishment mirrors a traditional overseas pub! You order and pay for all food at the bar before being served. How cool is that? The pub offers both upstairs and downstairs seating, creating an old English pub atmosphere that feels cozy and inviting!
We ordered the Meat & Cheese plate and two Fish & Chips. The Meat & Cheese platter included a variety of meats, the cheese of the day, and was served with crunchy corn nuts. The Fish and Chips came with two pieces of perfectly cooked fish, thin-cut fries, homemade tartar sauce, and a zesty lemon wedge. Yum!
The Meat & Cheese Platter
The Meat & Cheese platter was quite good and served as a nice appetizer. However, we weren't fans of the cheese of the day. It just didn’t hit the spot for us! But don't let that deter you. The rest of the platter was delightful and perfect for sharing!
The Fish & Chips Experience
Now, let’s talk about the Fish and Chips! They were some of the best I've ever had! The fish was moist, not dry at all, and had a lovely, crispy batter. The fries were thin-cut and perfectly seasoned. I could eat this dish every day! Seriously, we would definitely return here the next time we are in downtown Detroit or heading to a sporting event or concert in this vibrant city.
Let’s dive into the photos of the cuisine!

Final Thoughts
The Lone Goat is a fantastic spot to grab a bite in downtown Detroit! Whether you're looking for a casual lunch or a pre-game meal, this pub has you covered. The atmosphere is friendly, and the food is delicious. What more could you ask for?
So, if you find yourself wandering around downtown Detroit, make sure to stop by the Lone Goat! You won't regret it!
That's all for now! Thanks for reading!
