Hey all!
Today, we're setting off on an adventure through Tokyo to visit Trader Vic's, a high-end Tiki-themed restaurant renowned for its Tiki cocktails. Once widespread globally, many Trader Vic's locations have closed, leaving only a few, including this one in Tokyo. To find it, you'll need to rely heavily on Google Maps, as it's tricky to locate within an office building. You'll need to ascend several floors and navigate through a few hallways, with no signs to guide you inside. Upon arrival, I was eager to choose which Tiki mugs to purchase. Initially, we came to buy some of their Tiki mugs, but we decided to try a drink to evaluate their cocktails. The first drink we ordered was a "Suffering Bast*rd," which included lime, a dash of rock candy syrup, orgeat syrup, orange curaçao, light rum, and 2 ounces of dark rum. This drink had a pleasant bitter yet sweet taste. The second drink we tried was the "Original Mai Tai," containing 2 ounces of 17-year-old J. Wray Nephew Jamaican Rum, ½ ounce Holland De Kuyper Orange Curaçao, ½ ounce French Garnier Orgeat, ¼ ounce Rock Candy Syrup, and juice from one whole lime. It was perfect and the best Mai Tai I had ever tasted. After enjoying the calming South Pacific music, the views of the zen garden outside the window, and the tropical Tiki ambiance, I secured my 2 Tiki mugs. Overall, the mission was a success. If you're a fan of Tiki culture and find yourself in Tokyo, Japan, be sure to check this place out!
