An Evening At Frontera Cocina Mexicana

Hey all!
This evening, we're having a late dinner at Frontera Cocina Mexicana in Disney Springs, part of the Walt Disney World Resort. On the night we visited, we couldn't secure dinner reservations until much later, so we opted for this restaurant. It's a seven-time James Beard Foundation award winner, headed by Chef Rick Bayless. The restaurant features a contemporary Mexican design and offers views of the blue waters in the springs of Disney Springs through its windows. We reviewed the menu and decided to start with the Chips and Guacamole. The appetizer was decent and typical of what you'd expect before a meal. Next, we ordered the Crispy Chicken Flautas, which included three crispy corn tortillas filled with chicken, served on a large banana leaf, topped with shaved cabbage, radish, crema, and a side of salsa verde. The presentation was appealing, but we didn't find much flavor, and it seemed a bit pricey for what you get. The second meal we ordered was the Creamy Chicken Enchiladas Suizas, featuring enchiladas smothered in a tomatillo cream sauce and topped with Queso Chihuahua, fresh cilantro, and rings of red onion in a black cast iron skillet. This dish also lacked flavor, despite the great presentation. Overall, the meal was just okay, and we're unsure if we'd return given the better options Disney Springs offers. Perhaps we didn't order the right dish, or maybe it's because where we're from, there are many Mexican restaurants with more flavorful options at a better value. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the ambiance, and the chips and guacamole were quite good. Now, let's take a look at some photos of our dining experience.
