At The Rock 'N' Rollercoast, Cedar Point!

Hey all!

Today, we're at Cedar Point! Growing up in the Detroit Metro area, we frequently visited Cedar Point several times a year, including their Halloween event, Halloweekends! Writing this trip report feels a bit strange since Cedar Point is close enough that it doesn't seem like anything unique to report on. However, I realize I'm fortunate to live within two hours of the park for day trips, so I thought... Why not! We began our day by riding the rollercoasters at the front of the park. Since we arrived later in the day, the lines were longer as we moved towards the back of the park.

Raptor was the first ride we experienced today; it's a towering inverted rollercoaster with numerous inversions that dominates the right side of the midway. This is one of my favorite inverted rollercoasters, consistently providing an exhilarating experience. After that, we rode Gatekeeper, their wing coaster that flies through the two keyholes near the park entrance. It's a nice ride for stretching across the front of the park and swooping through many inversions, although I believe there are better wing rollercoasters available. We then tried the new Wild Mouse Rollercoaster, which was a neat little family ride, but it gets overshadowed by the other attractions in the park and isn't a "must-do." Next, we went on Blue Streak, their classic wooden rollercoaster, which offers some pretty solid airtime but is quite a rough ride. Finishing up with the last rollercoaster at the front of the park, we got on Valravn, their dive rollercoaster. This ride suspends riders over a 90-degree vertical drop before plunging straight down and then swooping into an inversion over the midway, followed by a break run where it drops into two more inversions before landing in the brakes. Valravn is a crowd-pleaser, but again, it's not the best ride of its kind out there. We then headed back to the middle of the park.

We chose to skip the Corkscrew, their classic steel arrow looping roller coaster with three inversions, to prevent a migraine. We also noticed Top Thrill 2 sitting idle; fortunately, we had the opportunity to ride it on the season pass holder night before it was closed for undisclosed reasons until next year. Iron Dragon, their family suspended roller coaster, had a line that was too long, so we decided to skip it this visit. We managed to get one ride on Rougarou, the looping floorless roller coaster, which we instantly regretted because of how rough it is on your ears. After experiencing what are considered the less impressive rides, we reached the legendary Millennium Force, the 310ft tall steel behemoth that hugs the coastline on the left side of the park in the Frontier Trail area. This is a long, fast, and intense ride through the forest in the center of the park. It's a must-ride for any new visitor!

We then made our way to Frontier Town, where we took a ride on the mine train rollercoaster, The Cedar Creek Mine Ride. This is one of the park's oldest attractions, offering a bumpy experience on its steel track. It's perfect for those seeking a bit more thrill than the rides in Camp Snoopy but who are wary of heights. Next, we went on Maverick, and I must say, it's my favorite ride in the park. This ride features powerful launches, three inversions, a drop beyond vertical, and numerous sharp over-banked turns. It's like experiencing Cedar Point's greatest hits all in one ride. You definitely need to try this ride during your visit. Afterwards, we headed to the back of the park for Steel Vengeance, their wooden hybrid rollercoaster. While it's a top 10 rollercoaster, in my opinion, the airtime can be uncomfortable if you have larger thighs, and it's not very accommodating for taller individuals. However, if you're after the most airtime in the park, this 200-foot giant offers over-banked turns, wild inversions, and relentless excitement. It's still an incredible ride.

We then made it to the other side of the park where we visited Gemini, the steel and wooden racing rollercoaster at Cedar Point. Despite being from the late '70s, this ride still delivers an exciting experience. You get some good air time, and the unique racing aspect really enhances the ride! It's a perfect stepping stone before our final ride of the day, the Magnum XL-200. This rollercoaster was the first full-circuit coaster to reach 200 feet in height back in 1989. It's remarkable because it runs along the Cedar Point beach and features numerous air time hills. However, the restraint system can make the ride uncomfortable, as it throws you out of your seat and can hurt your legs over time. For me, this one is always a one-time experience! With that, I'll wrap up my thoughts and move on to the photo report!
