Avenged Sevenfold & Good Charlotte North American Tour

Hey all!

Tonight, we’re out at Pine Knob Music Theatre for the Good Charlotte and Avenged Sevenfold tour! The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for an outdoor show, and we managed to snag a great spot on the lawn to take it all in.

The night kicked off with a rather unusual opening set. The very first opener was mostly just DJ tracks, which felt a bit out of place for a rock show. Following that was a new side project from Avenged Sevenfold called Statica. The band performed entirely behind a mesh screen enclosure, playing heavily distorted, avant-garde music. It was definitely a choice, and honestly, we weren't entirely sure what to make of it.

Things completely turned around when Good Charlotte took the stage, and they delivered an absolute masterclass of a set. Their live vocal harmonies were dialed in perfectly, and unlike many heavy venue mixes, they didn't over-saturate the bass, allowing the venue acoustics to shine. They ran through a setlist stacked with crowd-favorites including "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous," "The Anthem," "The River," "Motivation Proclamation," and "The Chronicles of Life and Death," among many others.

While their stage setup was relatively minimal and stripped-down, the sheer energy, nostalgia, and musical precision carried the entire performance. Honestly, this had to be one of the best live sets we’ve ever seen from a band.

Closing out the night was Avenged Sevenfold. Their set was okay, but it didn't quite hit the same highs. The vocal mix was unfortunately pretty muddy and hard to make out clearly from the lawn, and the stage production felt surprisingly understated compared to what you’d expect. They hit key tracks like "Nightmare" and "Hail to the King," but their actual playtime felt notably shorter than Good Charlotte’s.

Overall, while both bands brought solid energy to the stage, Good Charlotte easily stole the show for us tonight.
