High Altitudes at Sleeping Bear Dunes

Hey all!

Today, we’re taking on the legendary Sleeping Bear Dunes! Our day began at the renowned Dune Climb, ready to tackle the sand. A heads-up: the first dune is misleading—you might anticipate a view of Lake Michigan at the top, but instead, you’ll find an endless expanse of sand stretching to the horizon. Naturally, no visit to the dunes is complete without a tumble, so I took the plunge and rolled down! (To catch that in action, visit our social media pages).

Next, we explored the National Lakeshore to admire the breathtaking overlooks. We checked out the famous, incredibly steep dune—the one where you could face a $3,000 rescue fine if you get stuck and can’t make it back up. Let’s just say the person at the top seems to judge anyone who even considers attempting it! We decided to play it safe and skip that climb, but the reward was still incredible: some truly stunning photos of Lake Michigan from above.
