Irish Fare At O'Connor's Public House
Hey all!
Tonight, we’re dining at O’Connor’s in downtown Rochester, and it feels less like a local pub and more like a true trip across the pond! The atmosphere is spot-on, with dark, rich woods and walls lined with authentic Irish memorabilia—it’s easy to see why this would be the place to be for St. Patrick’s Day.
We started our meal with the Scotch Egg, a perfectly prepared hard-boiled egg wrapped in savory breakfast sausage, paired with a honey mustard sauce that added a great sweet-and-tangy kick. For our entrees, I went with the Harp Fish & Chips. The beer-battered cod was excellent, served with coleslaw and a house-made tartar sauce that had a hint of garlic—a fantastic touch that really elevated the dish. Reg ordered the Irish Boxty, an incredibly rich combination of Irish bacon, smoked bacon, and bangers, all sautéed with peas and shallots in a whiskey cream sauce and finished with crumbled goat cheese. It was hearty, delicious, and honestly, some of the best boxty you’ll find this side of Ireland! While O’Connor’s is a bit on the pricier side for a pub, the quality of the food makes it a local gem we’ll definitely be returning to.
