Today, we will explore the LEGO Ideas Twilight: The Cullen House (#21354). This set, comprising 2,001 pieces, is priced at $219.99 USD and offers an engaging experience for both "Twilight" fans and LEGO enthusiasts. A notable aspect of this set is its color scheme. While the original fan submission utilized dark, muted tones to reflect the moody, blue-desaturated film tint of the 2008 movie, LEGO chose a brighter palette, prominently featuring dark orange and lighter greys. The house boasts a modular design, allowing each floor to be removed seamlessly to reveal detailed interior spaces. The set includes seven minifigures: Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, Jacob Black, Carlisle Cullen, Alice Cullen, Rosalie Hale, and Charlie Swan. Additionally, it features Bella's 1963 Chevy Truck and Jacob in Werewolf Form. Below is an overview of the various stages of the build process:
The Build Process:
The Ground Floor: This level includes the iconic grand piano where Edward plays for Bella, along with a bookcase, planters, and an ingeniously angled entrance door. The back wall of the garage opens inward, maximizing play space.
The Main Living Level: This level is the highlight of the build. It features a highly detailed kitchen (ironically for a family that doesn't eat), a sleek fireplace, and a wall showcasing the family's baseball gear collection for their games during thunderstorms.
The Top Floor: Featuring a smaller, cooler aesthetic with whites and greys, this level includes the bathroom and Edward's room, complete with his signature leather chaise lounge, record player, and a display of graduation caps.
For casual LEGO builders, the $220 price may seem high for a 2,000-piece model that lacks a large footprint. However, for Twilight fans or collectors seeking a stunning piece of modern architecture that diverges from standard LEGO City designs, the specific Easter eggs, remarkable minifigures, and unique shelf presence make it a highly rewarding centerpiece.
