The March To The Fresh Water Sea At Silver Dunes

Hey all!

It's been a while since we shared a trip report, primarily due to the global circumstances with the Covid Pandemic. On a brighter note, we're out enjoying the fresh air on a sand dune! Silver Lake is a unique natural wonder in Mears, MI, featuring towering sand dunes where you can hike or take a 4x4 jeep ride, or even join a group dune ride with Mac Dunes (a dune tour you can experience). After being cooped up at home for a while, we decided to visit the dunes! We hiked from the parking area all the way to where you can see Lake Michigan. If you were hiking without sand, it wouldn't be too challenging. However, going uphill and downhill on the dunes feels like you're constantly battling quicksand. You can capture some stunning photos on the dunes, so check them out below! Once everything returns to normal, we plan to actively share our travels to inspire your next road trips!
