An Unexpected Hike Up Castle Rock!

Hey all!
On our return trip from the Soo Locks, we stopped at Castle Rock, a renowned historic roadside landmark in St. Ignace. This natural limestone formation towers above the highway, encouraging travelers to ascend a series of pathways and bridges to its peak.
To reach the observation deck, one must climb 173 uneven steps across 8 different flights of stairs, making it a fairly challenging hike. However, those who undertake the climb are rewarded with breathtaking, unobstructed views of the Upper Peninsula's landscape and Lake Huron's waters. On clear days, the Mackinac Bridge and the Lower Peninsula's shoreline are beautifully visible on the horizon.
With an entry fee of just one dollar per climber, it’s a delightful, nostalgic piece of Michigan travel history that is definitely worth visiting. Check out our ascent to the top in the photo report below.
