Halloween Haunts at Canada's Wonderland

Hello all!

Today, I am visiting Canada's Wonderland for the concluding days of their Halloween Haunt event, with a keen interest in experiencing Alpine Fury. Due to our late arrival, our initial ride was on Alpine Fury. This launched steel roller coaster achieves speeds of 71 mph and ascends to a height of 164 feet while inverting over Wonder Mountain, featuring a total of nine inversions. It is undoubtedly a worthwhile attraction, offering a unique experience. Subsequently, we enjoyed rides on Leviathan, Dragon Fyre, and Wildebeast. Leviathan, standing 300 feet tall, remains impressive with its expansive airtime hills visible across the park's skyline. However, Wildebeast and Dragon Fyre were less remarkable. Dragon Fyre is a classic steel coaster with inversions that tend to be jarring. Wildebeast is notably one of the roughest wooden roller coasters. We then realized we had missed The Bat, a boomerang roller coaster, which was also quite uncomfortable. Therefore, Leviathan was the standout ride in the Medieval Faire area. We proceeded to the World Fair area, crossing International Street, where we experienced Flight Deck, which was also quite rough. This inverted roller coaster features five inversions that are particularly intense. Fortunately, we found relief with Behemoth. This ride is among the finest hyper roller coasters, offering perfect airtime on its numerous hills and maintaining its speed throughout. Our next experience was the family launched roller coaster, the Backlot Stunt Rollercoaster. Previously featuring impressive special effects under Paramount's ownership, these effects have been discontinued, leaving the ride less engaging. We then attempted The Mighty Canadian Mine Buster. Although undergoing some retracking improvements, it remains quite rough and was not an experience we wished to repeat. Lastly, we rode Yukon Striker and Vortex. Yukon Striker, despite some criticism, is, in my opinion, one of the best dive roller coasters. It features a unique plunge over 200 feet into an underwater tunnel, with a layout extending through the park's entrance, offering excellent hangtime. Vortex provided an enjoyable ride over the pond surrounding Wonder Mountain, with some exhilarating swings throughout its layout. We spent the remainder of our visit exploring the Halloween Haunt decorations before returning to our hotel. We hope to return in the future for better photographs when time permits. Although we did not experience all the attractions on this visit, having been on them in the past, we aim to capture more photos next time. Please see some of our photos below!
