High-Octane Eats at The Ford Garage

Hey all!

Today, we are dining at Ford’s Garage! While it has expanded into a regional chain over recent years, it originated in the Detroit area and is famous for its fantastic burgers, impressive craft beer selection, and over-the-top automotive theme.

From the moment you step inside, the detail is incredible. An antique Ford automobile is suspended right above the bar, your napkins are actual shop towels secured with real hose clamps, and the walls are decked out with vintage garage tools and classic Ford engine displays. If you are a fan of Ford products, this is definitely the place to be.

With that, let’s dive into the food!

To start things off, Reg ordered the No Octane Guava Fizz—a refreshing tropical mocktail crafted with guava, fresh lime juice, pure cane syrup, and a ginger beer float for a bubbly kick. It offered a great balance of fruity sweetness with a subtle bit of tartness.

For our appetizer, we went with the Cheese Curbs, which feature bite-sized white cheddar dipped in batter and served with a side of chipotle ranch. The coating was light, crisp, and perfectly balanced with the gooey cheese inside without feeling overly fried.

Next came our main courses. I ordered the Black & Bleu Burger, topped with blackened seasoning, crumbled bleu cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, caramelized onions, lettuce, and tomato, all served on a soft pretzel bun. The bun was fresh, pillow-soft, and complemented the savory patty well, though I do wish they had been a bit more generous with the bleu cheese.

Reg opted for the Honey Chipotle Chicken Bowl, made with seasoned chicken, elote corn, diced avocado, and pico de gallo served over jasmine rice and drizzled with a honey chipotle vinaigrette. The sauce packed a gentle kick, but the blend of fresh ingredients made for a fantastic bite.

Overall, Ford’s Garage is a really fun destination with a great vibe. While it runs a little on the pricier side for casual dining, you are definitely paying for the immersive atmosphere and top-tier decor.
