Paying Respects At Six Flags America

Today, during our Memorial Day trip, we made a spontaneous stop at the infamous Six Flags America, which is closing at the end of the year. This was my second time here; the first was during a scout trip on the way to a National Scout Jamboree. As soon as we got to the gate, we were all about hitting as many coasters as possible, even though they kept breaking down. First up was the relocated wild mouse coaster, Ragin' Cajun. Normally, I wouldn't wait 40 minutes for a wild mouse ride, but hey, this was a special occasion. The ride was exactly what you'd expect: rough, dizzying, and honestly, not worth it! Next, we checked out the Wild One, a wooden rollercoaster that's over 100 years old. It has a nice out-and-back layout with a cool sweeping helix at the end. It was a bit bumpy but still fun. Then we headed to the DC-themed area to try Jokers Jinx, Superman: Ride of Steel, and Batwing.
Jokers Jinx was basically like an outdoor version of Flight of Fear. With only one train running, we waited about an hour, which cut into our time to get to Kings Dominion later. The ride was pretty shaky and almost gave me a Charlie horse, so it wasn’t my top pick.
Superman: Ride of Steel was a solid hyper coaster. The line was short, and even though some parts were a bit anticlimactic, it had some nice airtime towards the end.
Batwing was the last of the Vekoma branded flying coasters, and we wanted to try it before they’re gone. It has this weird flight vest restraint that makes you feel like you might fly out. Overall, it was a smooth and thrilling ride. After hitting the top three rides at the park, we ventured over to Roar. I remember this not being a great ride as a kid, however... it was way worse. This is the only wooden rollercoaster where I have pulled a muscle while riding it. I sort of hope this ride becomes Firewood. We tried to get on Firebird, but it broke down when were about to ride. So... We went over to the last ride we could try to get on today, which was the Skywinder, an inverted hang and bang rollercoaster from Vekoma. We lucked out and had the opportunity to not ride it because it had a 2 hr wait. Overall, its sad a park is closing; however, this park has been on its last legs for a while. Now, on to the pictures!

As Always, Keep Traveling and Keep on Coast 'n'
