The Best BBQ In Michigan Is At Bad Brads?
Hey all!
BBQ is highly valued by Americans, and the quest for the best pit-smoked delights is ongoing. However, we may have found a leading candidate in Shelby Township, Michigan.
From the outside, this venue resembles an abandoned industrial site rather than a restaurant. Its weathered exterior and scrap metal decorations create a striking appearance—but don't be deceived by its rugged look. The "abandoned" vibe is completely intentional, and this theme flows seamlessly inside. You'll be surrounded by aged sheet metal and walls decorated with detailed diagrams of beef and pork cuts, setting the perfect scene for serious BBQ. Our water was served in a charming mason jar glass featuring the Bad Brad's logo.
We began our meal with their renowned "Pig Candy." It was served on a clever, miniature clothesline—a playful way to present what might be one of the best versions of bacon we've ever tasted. We're talking premium, thick-cut bacon, marinated in a perfect blend of sugar and spice, then hickory-smoked to perfection.
For our main courses, we enjoyed:
The Classic BBQ Sandwich: Filled with tender, expertly pulled pork and accompanied by Great Lakes BBQ chips.
The Growler Sandwich: A standout mix of pulled chicken, aged cheddar, a slice of that incredible Pig Candy, crisp lettuce, onion, and a smooth avocado mayo.
Both sandwiches were exceptionally flavorful. They hit all the right notes without being overwhelmed by the heavy, lingering smokiness that can sometimes affect BBQ places. Plus, they have amazing hand-cut fries! Last but not least, before you finish your sandwich or their fries, be sure to try their house-made sauces, especially their signature 321 sauce.
Everything we ordered was fantastic, the atmosphere was uniquely immersive, and the staff were incredibly friendly. If you're craving high-quality BBQ, this place is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back.
