Hey All!
While driving through northern Michigan, we made a stop at Gaylord's renowned roadside attraction, The Call of the Wild. The building is unmistakable, with its faux-mountain facade and vibrant mural easily visible from the highway. Although the site offers go-karts and mini-golf, we chose to explore the museum.
The staff was incredibly friendly, greeting us with an entertaining scavenger hunt to accompany our tour. The interior resembles a cave and houses a vast collection of taxidermied animals. In a clever interactive feature, each exhibit includes a horn-style telephone that you can pick up to hear the animal's sound. Even though I'm not usually a fan of taxidermy, I found the concept quite engaging. It's a delightful blend of vintage peculiarity and classic roadside charm—definitely a cool experience and well worth the visit.
