A Day At Kings Dominion

Today, we find ourselves at the unique Kings Dominion (not to be mistaken for Kings Island). We kicked off our day by heading directly to the Jungle Expedition section of the park to try out the new wing coaster, Rapterra! As the latest attraction, it currently boasts the longest line in the park. The park has done a reasonable job theming the queue area with temple ruins and references to the Volcano coaster. However, once you reach the station, the theming is minimal. Rapterra itself was quite an interesting experience. The new models of this ride are known for delivering a shaky ride experience, and you can even see the train bouncing as it moves along the track. The ride experience was okay at best. It is a unique ride, being a launched wing roller coaster with some nice inversions in its layout, but I don't think it measures up to the launched inverted roller coaster it replaced, Volcano.
We then made our way to Tumbili, a 4D free spin rollercoaster where riders are suspended over the side of the track, and the cars flip upside down purely through gravity. It's one of the top 4D free spin models I've experienced. It offers numerous inversions and lasts long enough without making me feel ill.
Afterwards, we did a ride on Reptilian, one of the last steel bobsled rollercoasters of its kind. It is a great family ride and give the illusion your going to fly off the track in your trackless free moving bobsled.
We grabbed some lunch and then went on Racer 75, a classic wooden roller coaster, followed by Twisted Timbers, a hybrid coaster famous for its intense air time and sharp inversions. Both rides are definitely worth experiencing if you have time. We attempted to go on Flight of Fear and Pantheon earlier, but both were closed.
Finally, we got on my favorite ride in the park, The Grizzly. Now, before you judge, I used to dislike how rough this wooden rollercoaster was. However, they recently retracked a large part of it and made the drop steeper. The ride is much smoother now and features one of the most intense turns I've ever experienced on a rollercoaster. If you're riding with someone, it feels like both of you are going to slam into the last turn.
Before I conclude this trip report, I should mention that we did ride Dominator. It's a fantastic ride to experience, especially after sunset.
In summary, it was a brief visit, and most of the rides were closed, yet we still enjoyed ourselves. Take a look at the photo report below!

That's it for now. I aim to visit Kings Dominion annually, but I often forget to take pictures... I'll make an effort to improve on that. As always, Keep on Coast'N'
