Jayell's BBQ In Romeo!
Hey all,
Today we stopped in for lunch at Jayell Smoke House! What started as a small roadside BBQ stand on the outskirts of Romeo, Michigan, has found a fantastic new home right in the heart of downtown.
The atmosphere has so much personality, featuring Funko Pops lining the ceiling and an awesome pig mural welcoming you right at the door. The service was top-tier—attentive, friendly, and fast—and the menu offers a solid variety.
We kicked things off with the Giant Pretzel, served alongside Jayell’s incredible queso and a tangy Carolina mustard sauce. Both dipping sauces were absolute standouts! We also tried a cup of the BBQ baked beans and the soup of the day, Jalapeño Popper. Every single bite hit the spot.
For our mains, we went with the 3 Little Piggies sandwich and an order of tacos. The sandwich—hickory-smoked pulled pork, candied bacon, and smoked sausage topped with red onions and melted provolone on a warm brioche bun—was out of this world. Genuinely one of the best smoked meat sandwiches I’ve ever had (and yes, that includes Kansas City!). The taco trio was just as impressive, served with crispy tortilla chips and your choice of queso or jalapeño corn salad.
Overall, Jayell’s is a criminally underrated gem in Southeastern Michigan. If you’re visiting Romeo for the Peach Festival or checking out the famous Tilson Street decorations right around the corner, this spot is an absolute must-visit!
